Court hours: Pre trial traffic conferences are usually scheduled for Tuesdays at 5:30 or 6:30  p.m.

Court information: This is a very pleasant Court in Columbia County.  Most of the traffic and speeding tickets seem to be issued from violations that occur on the Taconic State Parkway.  The New York State Police, the Deputies from the Columbia County Sherriff’s Department and the New York State Park Police regularly patrol these areas.

The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes and negotiates the speeding tickets issued by the New York State Police.  The Sherriff’s Deputies and Park Police Officers prosecute their own tickets. This Court does not allow negotiations or plea bargains by mail for any traffic matters in this Court.

About the Town: The town of Claverack NY is well know historically and many photos can be seen at the official town website at http://www.townofclaverack.com/webpages/TownHistory-2.htm .  According to the Town web page, Martin Van Buren, the Eighth President of the United States practiced law in the “First Court House” in Claverack.
